In the last few days, there has been a lot of speculation about the return of one of the most exciting players in recent FC Barcelona history to the Blaugrana club, i.e., Neymar Junior.
The Brazilian superstar is once again getting back to his best level since joining his boyhood club Santos from Al-Hilal last winter, and his improving performances have coincided with reports linking him with a move to the Catalan club.
Even Andre Cury, Vitor Roque’s agent and one of the more influential individuals in Brazilian football, has confirmed that the Samba star would be looking to return to Barcelona.
However, the Blaugranes themselves are not as keen as Neymar for his return and have already reportedly let him know that a move would be considered only if he maintains consistency and scores at least 15 goals with Santos.
Meanwhile, SPORT reports that Hansi Flick is also not so clear about the Brazilian star’s incorporation into his team, as he has doubts because of his age and physical condition. These doubts are quite understandable keeping in view the emphasis that the Blaugrana coach puts on youth and intensity.
As things stand, a formal proposal has not yet been put on the table for Neymar, which might indicate the coaching department’s lack of willingness to accept his arrival.
Similarly, the economic uncertainty surrounding the Catalan club also makes this operation difficult, as the Blaugranes still don’t know how much room for manoeuvrability they will have in the summer, and whether they will still be operating at the 1:1 status.
In such an economic environment, Barcelona will be looking to complete their priority operations, i.e., bringing players who can be a part of the long-term project for the club. Only after achieving these objectives will they be able to consider the possibility of making a move for Neymar, even though the Brazilian will arrive for free.
