Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has this week responded to questions regarding the potential return of Lionel Messi to the club.
And the German, it would appear, is very much open to such a prospect.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Athletic Club on Saturday, Flick explained:
“Training Messi? Why not? I always enjoy watching him play, he’s incredible. But his contract ends in 2028 and mine in 2027…”
Messi’s Blaugrana reunion links of course come with the Argentine fresh off paying a surprise visit to the city of Catalunya.
Based in Spain for a training camp with the Argentine national team this month, Messi made the trip to the newly-renovated Spotify Camp Nou.
Amid suggestions that as much came with the cold relationship between the veteran attacker and his former employers beginning to thaw, inevitable reports of ‘one last dance’ between club and player have therefore spread like wildfire.
As of this moment, however, any such comeback appears highly unlikely.
