Harry Kane has started the season on fire for Bayern Munich and added three more goals to his haul with a hat-trick at Hoffenheim this weekend.
Kane has now scored 13 goals in just seven appearances across all competitions this season and has raced clear as the Bundesliga’s top scorer.
After successive seasons as the leading scorer in Germany, Kane is bidding to become just the third player – after Gerd Muller and Robert Lewandowski – to end three consecutive campaigns as the Kicker-Torjägerkanone winner.
The England captain is also closing in on a century of goals for Bayern Munich. In a little more than two seasons, Kane has scored 98 goals in 103 appearances for the Bavarians.
He now has the chance to break the record as the fastest player to reach 100 goals for a club in a top-five European league.
The current record is held jointly by Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) and Erling Haaland (Manchester City), each of whom took 105 games to reach 100 goals.
Should Kane score a brace in Friday’s clash with Werder Bremen, he’ll set a new goalscoring record. Given his form this season, it would be a brave person to bet against him.
