Hartlepool United are among the clubs keen on FC Halifax Town striker Will Harris after his 22 goals in 43 National League games last season. “It has been great seeing how well Will has done at Halifax this season and it’s no surprise to see so many clubs showing an interest in him given the number of goals he has scored.”

The former Spennymoor Town manager, Jamie Chandler, told The Mail.

Pools have already bolstered their attack with Jordan Hugill and former Morecambe forward Jack Nolan, who hit 19 for the Shrimpers as they battled National League relegation. Corey McKeown has joined from Spennymoor Town, while Brooklyn Ilunga arrives from Bromley to add left-sided depth.

Work to add more signings is under way, with a goalkeeper and a striker believed to be priorities for head coach Lee Clark and recently appointed head of recruitment Chris Beech ahead of pre-season later this month.

“There was never any doubting Will’s talent and attitude and I think he has probably thrived from being handed the responsibility of being the main man in attack at Halifax and it’s brought something out of him. There’s obviously a few clubs keen and you can see why Hartlepool would be interested in him given what he has done this season so I think that move is one that could work for Pools and Will.”
