Diego Simeone didn’t hide his frustration after Atletico Madrid suffered 4-0 defeat against Arsenal in Champions League group stage on Tuesday night admitting that his side collapsed defensively after conceding the opening goal early in 2nd half.

The turning point came in the 47 minute when Declan Rice delivered perfectly weighted free kick that Gabriel Magalhaes headed home to break the deadlock. From that moment, Arsenal took full control.

"We managed 1st half well until that first goal, but once Arsenal scored, they were ruthless for about 13 minute .. that was enough to decide the game" Simeone told Spanish television after the match.

"Set pieces can change everything"

The Argentine tactician praised Arsenal’s precision from dead ball situations , a strength that has become key weapon under Mikel Arteta.

"I’ve always loved set pieces, there're many teams that work on them exceptionally well. When you take advantage of one, it changes everything , it opens the path for you" Simeone said.

He also pointed to the fine margins that defined 1st half:

"If Julian Alvarez’s shot that went inches wide had gone in, the match could’ve been completely different. Small details like that change the story" he said.

The 55 years old revealed that Arsenal's collective energy & speed in transfers helped them overcome "Los Colchoneros" after trailing goal.
