Amid offseason exit links, it might be the case that central defender Kim Min-jae has played his last game for Bayern Munich. Now that the Bundesliga title has been sewn up, FCB head coach Vincent Kompany has opted to rest the 28-year-old for the remaining two league fixtures, according to Münchener Tageszeitung.

The report makes sense as the 69-times-capped South Korean international has been playing through injury problems recently. The 28-year-old last featured under Kompany in the 3-0 win over Mainz on matchday 31. Whether or not the defender will feature for Bayern at the coming Club World Cup in the USA remains to be seen.

The Munich paper also notes that Kim may encounter some issues gaining a visa. This stems from the fact that the South Korean national team is scheduled to play a friendly in Iraq prior to the tournament. Current US entry restrictions render it difficult for travelers from certain countries to enter.

It most likely will be the case that the German giants will find a way of making it work with US authorities. Bayern find themselves in need of help in central defence during the upcoming competition, particularly after Eric Dier’s confirmed departure.

Centre-backs Dayot Upamecano and Hiroki Ito are already confirmed outs for the Club World Cup as the FCB professionals nurse long-term injuries.
