Hayden Hackney has been linked with a move away from Middlesbrough this summer
Manchester United are monitoring Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney ahead of the summer amid interest from Leeds United.
According to Teamtalk, the Premier League side have the 23-year-old on their radar as they look to qualify for the Champions League for next season.
The Boro star has been key to Kim Hellberg’s team as they push for promotion to the Premier League, with the club top of the table.
Hackney came through the ranks of the Middlesbrough academy system, and he made his name as a crucial part of the squad under current Man United interim boss Michael Carrick.
He’s contributed four goals and five assists in the Championship so far this season, having played in all 31 of their games.

Man United have placed Hackney on their radar ahead of the summer transfer window following his strong performances for Middlesbrough.
It was reported by Alan Nixon last weekend that Leeds are keen on signing the midfielder.
However, they could now potentially face competition from Man United, who are looking to reinforce their midfield.
It was already confirmed that Casemiro will be departing Old Trafford at the end of the campaign, which will leave the Red Devils with just Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo to choose from.
Man United are not the only club keeping tabs on Hackney, with it understood that there are several teams keen on a deal for the player, including Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.
The 23-year-old’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027, meaning he could be at risk of becoming a free agent as things stand.
Middlesbrough are currently top of the Championship table, ahead of Coventry City by just two points ahead of their clash this evening at the CBS Arena.
Meanwhile, Millwall are in third place, five adrift of Boro and with one more game played.

Hackney has been really impressive so far this season, and it’s no surprise that he’s attracting this much transfer interest.
He is the kind of profile of player that could do quite well at Man United, although he’s likely to be a secondary choice at Old Trafford.
That is something that Hackney will have to consider when weighing up his future, as he could always extend his stay at the Riverside.
His contract status will likely depend on Middlesbrough’s promotion hopes, but even Premier League football at the Teesside outfit might not be enough to convince him to stay if Man United or Leeds come calling.
