Manchester United earned a hard-fought Premier League draw against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Red Devils were abysmal in the first half but captain Bruno Fernandes stepped up with a stunning free-kick to ignite Old Trafford just before the break.
Declan Rice’s long-range effort ensured that Arsenal took a point home.
United’s January signing, Ayden Heaven, was thrown into the deep end against his former club and he certainly didn’t look out of place.
Speaking after the game, manager Ruben Amorim spoke glowingly about Heaven.
He said (via BBC MOTD): “I think he did really well. He is really comfortable with the ball.
“So relaxed, very aggressive and I think we have a very good player there.”
When United secured the 18-year-old’s signature, they made it clear he was being signed as a first-team prospect under Amorim.
Some doubted whether he was ready for such a big step but his performance against Arsenal silenced the sceptics.
The teenager was introduced at the start of the second half after Leny Yoro was forced off with an injury.
Despite the high-stakes occasion, Heaven showed remarkable composure against a top Arsenal side.
With Arsenal dominating possession, he only had 18 touches of the ball.
The young defender registered three clearances and two recoveries, proving his defensive instincts.
Most impressively, he wasn’t dribbled past even once and won three of the five duels he contested.
Manchester Evening News gave him a positive 7/10 rating in their post-match analysis.
Heaven made his United debut against Fulham in the FA Cup.
He played for half an hour and looked assured at the back.
With injuries piling up in United’s defence, the promising starlet could see plenty more game time in the coming weeks.
