Michael Olise continues to impress week in, week out at FC Bayern – and has long since caused a stir internationally. After his gala performance in the 2:1 win against Real Madrid, the Frenchman has finally arrived on the big stage. Nevertheless, his name has so far only played a minor role in the discussion about the world footballer title. An assessment that not everyone shares
Experts and the media are currently lavishing praise on the attacking player, with ex-Liverpool player Jamie Carragher being particularly vocal after the game at the Bernabéu: „That’s one of the best performances I’ve seen from a player this season.“
Words that underline the impression Olise is currently making
FC Bayern are also aware of the 24-year-old’s extraordinary development. Head of Sport Max Eberl has long regarded Olise as an absolute world-class player – and has even brought him into the discussion about the highest individual award in soccer
„We can see how he is developing. We have already seen that when we watched him and how he worked in the Premier League before,“ explained Eberl in an interview with Sky. In Munich, the attacking player has once again taken a significant step forward: „He has not only underlined that now at FC Bayern, but has increased it even further.“
When it came to the world footballer debate, the Bayern boss was even clearer – albeit with a wink: „It’s a feast for the eyes to watch him. And the exciting thing is: he’s rarely satisfied with himself. After three assists and two goals, he says that was quite okay.“

It is precisely this mentality that makes Olise so special for many. Despite outstanding performances and impressive numbers, the Frenchman remains critical of himself and constantly strives to improve – a quality that often makes the difference between very good and absolute world-class players
Eberl finally sums it up: „And of course he has the chance to be and become one of the best footballers in the world. So he has my vote.“
Even if the really big title is still a long way off, one thing is certain: in a very short space of time, Michael Olise has played his way into a category in which he can no longer be ignored. The question is no longer whether he belongs to the world class – but how far he can go.
