Le Havre and Metz drew 4-4 at the Stade Océane on Sunday, with Gauthier Hein's late header earning the visitors a point as they remain 18th in Ligue 1.

Mbwana Samatta opened the scoring in the fifth minute, rifling in from the centre of the box. Giorgi Kvilitaia levelled with a header from a corner (9.). Yassine Kechta restored the lead after a set piece (13.).

Just before the interval, Yanis Zouaoui handled in the area and a penalty was awarded. VAR confirmed the spot kick, and Hein converted in the fifth minute of first half stoppage time.

After the restart, Samatta won a penalty and Zouaoui swept in from the spot to edge Le Havre back in front (52.). Half-time substitute Jahyann Pandore equalised moments later from Nathan Mbala's cross (54.).

Issa Soumaré then teed up Fode Doucouré, who thumped in to make it 4-3 (61.). Hein completed his brace late on, glancing in Mbala's delivery (85.).

In the closing stages, Sofiane Boufal had a close-range attempt blocked as the tie finished level.

Le Havre registered 14 attempts, with five on target. Metz finished with 12 attempts, five on target, and 52.9% possession.

Next, Le Havre visit LOSC. Metz host Monaco.
