The wait is over: Inter are back in action after their midweek win against Fiorentina. On Sunday, November 2 at 12:30 CET, Cristian Chivu’s side will face Hellas Verona away on Matchday 10 of Serie A. The Nerazzurri currently sit third in the table with 18 points, three behind leaders Napoli and Roma, having scored 22 goals and conceded 11. The clash between the Nerazzurri and the Gialloblu offers plenty of interesting stats and storylines.
Inter head to the Bentegodi in excellent form, with eight wins in their last nine matches across all competitions, a remarkable run that shows the strength and consistency of Cristian Chivu’s side. The Nerazzurri continue to stand out for both the quality and balance of their attacking play: Inter are one of only two teams with the highest number of different goalscorers in Serie A this season (10, level with Atalanta). They’ve also scored the most goals in the second half of matches (13), a sign of their ability to maintain intensity and focus right to the final whistle, proof of the team’s collective strength and attacking variety. Another noteworthy stat: Inter have scored the most goals from inside the penalty area (18), highlighting their constant attacking presence and clinical finishing.
A standout performer in this early part of the season, Hakan Çalhanoğlu has already scored five goals in seven Serie A appearances, matching his total from the entire previous campaign. The Turkish midfielder currently leads the league’s scoring charts alongside Riccardo Orsolini (5 goals).
Since the 2017/18 season, Çalhanoğlu has also been, together with Ruslan Malinovskyi, the midfielder with the most goals from outside the box in Serie A (18).
Among the 16 teams he has faced for at least 500 minutes in Serie A, Hellas Verona are one of Lautaro Martínez’s favourite opponents. The Nerazzurri captain has scored six goals in 596 minutes against the Gialloblu, with an average of one every 99 minutes, second only to his record against Cagliari (one every 73). A leader on the pitch and the team’s attacking exemplar, Lautaro will be looking to extend his strong record at the Bentegodi.
Among the brightest stars of the season so far, Ange-Yoan Bonny and Petar Sucic continue to impress with their performances and consistency. Bonny, with three goals and three assists, is one of only two players in Serie A to have already reached this stat, alongside Nico Paz.
Sucic, meanwhile, is one of the youngest midfielders (born in 2003) with at least three goal involvements this season, one goal and two assists. Only Nico Paz has done better among players in his position.
Hellas Verona, led by Paolo Zanetti, have started the season with five points from nine matches, all coming from draws. The Veneto side have scored five goals and conceded fourteen, and currently sit third from bottom in the table.
In their last five league outings, the Gialloblu have picked up two points, from a goalless draw against Pisa and a 2–2 home draw with Cagliari, along with three defeats to Roma, Sassuolo, and Como. In the Coppa Italia, their run ended in the Round of 32 after a penalty shoot-out loss to Venezia, who will face Inter in the Round of 16.
For the clash with the Nerazzurri, Zanetti is expected to line up his side in a 3-5-2 formation, with Montipò in goal; a back three of Nelsson, Valentini, and Frese; a midfield of Belghali, Serdar, Gagliardini, Bernede, and Bradaric; and an attacking duo of Orban and Giovane.
