Liverpool have reportedly entered the race for Hertha Berlin wonderkid Kennet Eichhorn, with talks already understood to have taken place over a potential future move.
According to Sky Germany, negotiations have moved forward “very concretely”, with journalist Florian Plettenberg also reporting that contacts between all parties are already underway. The 16-year-old midfielder is expected to leave Hertha this summer, with a release clause believed to be in the region of €10-12 million.
Eichhorn has quickly become one of the most talked-about young talents in German football, breaking into the Hertha first team at just 16 and earning senior minutes in the 2. Bundesliga despite his age. His composure, passing range and tactical awareness have drawn comparisons with Toni Kroos in the German press.
However, any potential move to Liverpool would not be immediate. Due to his age, the midfielder would be unable to join the club until he turns 18 under current regulations.
Liverpool’s interest is seen as a setback for Bayern Munich, who have also been tracking the teenager closely in recent months.
Despite an ankle injury disrupting parts of his season, Eichhorn still managed 17 appearances and continues to be viewed as one of Germany’s brightest emerging prospects.
