We’re all in pain right now because of the international break which has rolled around to sting us just as we were getting into the new season.

On Sky Sports they were aware that there’s still days to go before the Premier League returns, so they broke the glass in case of content emergency and wheeled out the big guns to fill the airwaves with chatter until then.

That’s right, it’s time for Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher to argue back and forth about what they’ve seen so far this season on the Overlap.

Noni Madueke completes Arsenal move.

There wasn’t a huge amount of Chelsea chat in there, but one interesting moment came when Neville looked at Arsenal’s start to the new season as the Gunners desperately try to win the title. One of their major summer moves was to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea, a decision which many Blues fans were celebrating and some Arsenal fans lamenting.

Neville admitted he hadn’t been sure about the move – but had been impressed by Madueke’s impact so far:

“I’ll be honest with you, when Arsenal signed him [Madueke], I’d seen him play quite a lot at Chelsea. I thought… I can see why Chelsea sort of let him go,” Neville said.

“I tell you – what a different player at Arsenal, and in the England games in the last few weeks.”

Chelsea fans don’t yet regret sale

We’re sure that most Chelsea fans are still not too upset about selling Madueke for a big fee. But the question will be how Jamie Gittens gets on his stead.

So far Estevao Willian has impressed on the right and Pedro Neto has played on the left – but Gittens is the most direct Madueke replacement who came in for almost the same price and in the same position. His development is what we really want to see.
