Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has received criticism from former Premier League attacker Troy Deeney.

Sesko joined the Red Devils in the summer transfer window from RB Leipzig in a big money move.

However, his time in England has been difficult, with the attacker failing to settle in the league and finding it difficult to get his goal scoring touch back.

The tall striker has so far scored just two Premier League goals all season, something that is not good enough for a striker who is leading the attack for Man United.

Benjamin Sesko has struggled at Man United

The Slovenian attacker has been criticised heavily and some in the media have even questioned why the Red Devils decide to invest such a big amount in Sesko, who is still young and in his developing phase.

Deeney in the latest figure to join the conversation and discuss the issues that Sesko is facing right now.

Speaking on The Football Exchange, the former Watford attacker said:

“I think that he had two opportunities that came his way and he was like a deer in the headlights.

“It’s like now he’s thinking about everything which is so strange because it was only a few games ago he went back-to-back, so it seems really strange that now he’s overthinking it.”

Sesko needs more time to develop

Deeney is talking about the chances that Sesko got in the match against Tottenham. The striker missed both opportunities and in the end it cost United two points.

The match ended 2-2 with United first conceding and then scoring a late goal, however, if Sesko had scored from the chances he got, United would have easily run away with three crucial points.

The striker has still not shown his best and he is still learning to come to terms with the pace and the physicality of the game in England.

The current sample size is too small to fully judge Sesko since he is a work in progress, not the finished article.
