While other Bayern Munich players have come in and out of the starting eleven in a packed schedule, Luis Díaz has started every single game for the German champions this season.
Nevertheless, the Colombia international shows no signs of fatigue heading into Saturday’s Bundesliga clash with Bayer Leverkusen.
“We have a slight advantage in that he’s used to this high intensity,” said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany at Friday’s pre-match press conference.
“He’s done this many times in his career – playing three matches in quick succession. He looks very fresh, and there are no signs that he needs a break.
“He is human, so it could happen. But Lucho is 27, which is the right age to get through something like this. If he does need a break, we have solutions we can implement. At the moment, though, it looks like he wants to play.”
Kompany also confirmed that, aside from long-term absentees Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala and Hiroki Ito, he has a full squad available.
“Everyone’s ready – including Manuel Neuer,” he stressed.
Neuer was given a break against Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend and served a suspension during Wednesday’s 4–1 DFB-Pokal win over 1. FC Köln.
