Bayern Munich are unlikely to be active in the January transfer window for signing established players, but that does not mean Max Eberl and others are sitting quietly.

The Bundesliga leaders are looking to secure contract extensions for players who feature in Vincent Kompany’s long-term plans.

Bayern are already looking to extend Harry Kane’s contract, and Serge Gnabry could follow him as well, over committing his future.

Gnabry joined Bayern in 2017 and has played a key role in the club’s success over the years.

The German winger has made over 300 appearances across all competitions for Bayern and is just two goals shy of 100 goals for the club.

The former Arsenal winger has won six Bundesliga titles and one Champions League at Bayern, and it appears that his journey with the club will continue.

Gnabry has a contract at Bayern until the end of the season, and the Bavarian giants are looking to offer him a new two-year deal.

Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that the agreement between the two camps is in the final stages.

Christian Falk: latest on Serge Gnabry’s contract situation

“It is TRUE: Serge Gnabry is very likely to sign a contract extension at BayernAt the end of December, we talked about Gnabry being set to sign a new contract until 2028.

“My international colleague Fabrizio Romano confirmed this is the case. He said the deal is really close (also 2028). So, I think if Fabrizio and I are of a similar mind, there’s a high chance that this scenario will play out. It’s deserved for Gnabry, who has improved significantly under Vincent Kompany despite having a dip in performances the prior two years.

“This season is his season. I think it’s good for both sides to have also agreed to reduce his salary and sign a short-term contract. No risk for both sides! If he’s still doing well, he has a chance to go to a club later as a free agent.”

Gnabry has made eight starts in the Bundesliga and has made four further appearances from the bench, scoring four goals and registering five assists.

The German international has made five appearances in the Champions League, contributing four goals.
