It looks like, according to many different media outlets, Hoffenheim are the most active side in looking to sign Anderlecht’s latest superstar talent. Nathan De Cat is just 17-years-old but was a key player for Anderlecht last season and is arguably one of the biggest talents to come out of the club in recent years. Given that Anderlecht have produced plenty of talented players over the years, the potential of De Cat to become one of the top midfielders certainly appears to be there.
Given Anderlecht’s track record, and De Cat’s obvious talents, it is surprising that it looks to be Hoffenheim who are winning the race for his signature. Many expected it would be, and no offence to the Bundesliga side, one of the top clubs in Europe that would be willing to bring in the teenager. If De Cat does join Hoffenheim, what appears likely to happen is that De Cat will develop further and prove himself to be of interest to these top teams, who will then spend well over double what Hoffenheim have already spent.
Yet for De Cat, this is actually a good move to make. Rather than going to a top club and being loaned out constantly until they deem him ready, he can join Hoffenheim and expect to get plenty of game time from the off. Alongside the Bundesliga, De Cat would also get to play in Europe with Hoffenheim having qualified for the Europa League.
Should De Cat join Hoffenheim, he will join what is already a young midfield with Leon Avdullahu and Wouter Burger. Yet De Cat is talented enough to force his way into the starting line up, and should prove to be an excellent signing for the Bundesliga side next season.
