Hoffenheim attacking midfielder Bazoumana Toure is set to join Newcastle United, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe wants quality forwards at the St James’ Park club after last season’s struggles, and Toure has been identified.
The Magpies have reached an agreement with the German club for the 20-year-old is a deal worth an initial €50 million.
It is a club-record fee for Hoffenheim and Bazoumana could be announced as a Newcastle player in the coming days.
The Ivory Coast international ended last season with five goals and 12 assists in 30 Bundesliga games last term.
While Bazoumana is primarily a left winger and is coming to Newcastle to replace Anthony Gordon, he can also play on the right and through the middle as a number 9.
Borussia Dortmund are also keen on the Ivorian, but it is the Magpies who have emerged as favourites to sign and have got a deal done.
Bazoumana played three games at the World Cup before his country’s elimination at the hands of Norway in the round of 32.
His major strengths include crossing, dribbling and passing, and Newcastle will hope he hits the ground running when next season starts.
Bazoumana also boasts blistering speed, which comes in handy in counterattacking situations.
The Magpies averaged 1.4 goals per Premier League game last season, and they need to address their underwhelming form in front of goal.
They averaged 1.8 goals per league game in 2024-25 and 2.2 goals per game in 2023-24, and Howe will hope the soon-to-be Toons attacker can help improve their fortunes on the pitch.
