After ending a 21-game goalless drought for Manchester United, Rasmus Højlund snapped another barren spell tonight, scoring the only goal in Denmark's 1-0 win over Portugal in the first leg of their Nations League quarter final.
The 22-year-old had not scored in 11 games for his country, going back to October 2023, but needed just minutes after coming off the bench to grab a crucial late winner in Copenhagen.
It was a cool close range finish at the end of a good team move, suggesting his form and belief in himself is back after his goal at Leicester.
His celebration after indicates just as much.
They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, and the striker will be hoping to be more and more like Ronaldo in front of goal as he looks to kick on for both club and country.
