FC Barcelona are set to face off against Deportivo Alaves for their next game in La Liga. For context, a win in this game could see La Blaugrana return to the top spot in the league temporarily, applying a lot of pressure on Real Madrid in the process.
However, after a disappointing loss against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League, a good performance here is crucial for morale. Hopefully, Hansi Flick is able to field a strong enough starting eleven to ensure that.
Here is how Barça could line up for this particular clash.
Goalkeeper: Joan Garcia
The Spanish goalkeeper will be a guarantee to start, and having him available is definitely a big boost for Barça.
Right-back: Jules Kounde
Poor in his previous outing for FC Barcelona, but Jules Kounde needs to bounce back soon. At his best, he is a valuable asset to the team, and Flick will be hoping that the Frenchman can find that version of himself again.
Centre-back: Eric Garcia
The typically formidable Spaniard was left isolated against Chelsea and was unable to make a big impression. However, perhaps a start against Alaves helps him recover his own confidence and form again.
Centre-back: Andreas Christensen
Considering the fatigue and pressure on this team, it might be time to start Andreas Christensen. With Ronald Araujo unavailable and Pau Cubarsi likely tired, the Danish defender could be a good option to start now.
Left-back: Alejandro Balde
One of the only players who left a good impression at Stamford Bridge, Alejandro Balde, was playing quite well. Hopefully, he can keep that momentum going for himself.
CDM: Frenkie de Jong
The Dutchman struggled at Stamford Bridge, and he was clearly unable to play at his best. However, he might get the chance to redeem himself in this important league fixture.
CDM: Marc Casado
Even though Pedri is back, the Spaniard will likely not start this game. Instead, Marc Casado might be a safer option for the midfield in this game, and he could bring in some much-needed intensity.
RAM: Lamine Yamal
A frustrating night in London for Lamine Yamal can only be forgotten if he manages to shine bright in La Liga again this time around. The youngster needs to assert himself more, and this is his chance to do so.
CAM: Dani Olmo
With it now being confirmed that Fermin Lopez is sidelined, Dani Olmo seems to be the most likely candidate to replace him. Hopefully, he is able to deliver a strong performance if he does end up starting.
LAM: Marcus Rashford
After not having started in the last two games, Marcus Rashford could start this game for Barça. His explosiveness could be crucial in attack, and that is exactly the kind of asset Hansi Flick might look to make use of.
Following a disappointing outing against Chelsea, Robert Lewandowski will be looking to get back to winning ways and finding the back of the net himself if possible.
