FLW takes a look at Emmanuel Latte Lath's first year in the USA after he left Middlesbrough in the 2025 January transfer window.
In February 2025, striker Emmanuel Latte Lath departed Middlesbrough after just a year-and-a-half on Teesside, making his way to the USA to play for MLS side Atlanta United.
The Ivorian striker had played an incredibly important role in Michael Carrick's side at the Riverside Stadium before leaving the club for £22.5 million, which was an MLS transfer record, and after he departed, Boro failed in their bid for a play-off place after a poor end to the campaign.
Latte Lath had scored 11 goals in 29 Championship games for the club before making his way to the US, and they found it tough to find a consistent replacement, with Tommy Conway only finishing the season on 13 league goals, while Finn Azaz picked up 12 himself.
Their former striker ended 2024/25 as Middlesbrough's third top scorer, and Football League World has taken a look at how the 27-year-old has done since making the switch to the MLS just over a year ago.
Latte Lath made his debut in the league for Atlanta against Montreal on February 23, 2025, and he scored a brace as his new side started the campaign with an excellent 3-2 victory. He would fail to score in his next two games, but he would find form soon after.

The Ivory Coast international scored three goals and registered two assists in four games, but his team were struggling for consistency in the MLS and found themselves fighting in mid-table in the Eastern Conference.
As Atlanta continued to falter, so did Latte Lath, and he went almost four months without a goal between the end of March and the middle of July, before finally finding the back of the net in a 1-1 draw away to Canadian outfit Toronto FC.
A week later, he notched his seventh goal of the campaign, but ultimately it would prove to be his last in the MLS in 2025, and he would suffer a muscle injury that would see him miss three games.
As Middlesbrough failed in their bid for a Championship play-off place some months prior, Atlanta's season came to an equally disappointing end as they finished 14th out of 15 teams in the East Conference and 28th out of 29 sides across the entirety of the MLS.
Latte Lath did score once in two Leagues Cup games, a competition that sees clubs from Major League Soccer and Liga MX from Mexico compete. However, the Georgia-based side were knocked out in the group stage.

Atlanta are preparing for the new season, which kicks off on February 21 against FC Cincinatti away from home. After the worst campaign in the club's history last time out, this is a vital year for the Five Stripes and their talisman, with ex-Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino now in charge.
With Middlesbrough battling for a place in the Premier League, Latte Lath will be hoping that he does not regret his move to the USA with another poor season.
