A 2-1 victory over rivals Sheffield United at Turf Moor on Monday evening sealed the club’s place back in the top flight at the first attempt.

A first-half brace from Josh Brownhill was enough to earn a crucial three points, even with Tom Cannon’s 37th minute strike.

Scott Parker has now achieved his third promotion to the Premier League, previously doing the same with Fulham and Bournemouth, with the latter also going up via a top two finish.

Watt has posted to social media his reaction to Burnley sealing a top two finish in the Championship with two games remaining.

The American has been a public face of the current ownership, and revelled in the momentous occasion, with the Clarets set to return after just a one-year absence from the division.

“WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!!!!!!!!” wrote Watt, via his personal Twitter account.

“Come on Burnley!!!!!”

Watt joined as part of the ownership group in May 2023, along with his wife Kealia, becoming minority investors following their previous promotion to the Premier League under Vincent Kompany.

Burnley recent form

Burnley’s win over Sheffield United gave them their sixth victory in their last seven league fixtures.

It also extended their unbeaten run to 31 games in the Championship, giving them an eight point lead over the third place side with just two fixtures left.

Parker’s side are also still in contention for the title, level on points with leaders Leeds United with just two matches remaining.

Burnley will end the season with a trip to QPR before a final home game against Millwall on 3 May, which will serve as a celebration for achieving their place back in the Premier League.

Burnley owners will be satisfied with promotion

The goal for Burnley this season was to gain promotion back to the Premier League, and they’ve now done that with two games to spare.

They will be pleased with the work Parker has done to get the team to this position, and getting over the line with a victory over their rivals makes it extra sweet.

The focus will now turn to summer recruitment, as additions will be needed if they’re to remain in the Premier League long-term.

As a minority owner, Watt will be involved in the next steps for the club, but he’s unlikely to dictate what kind of signings are made this transfer window given he’s a minority owner.
