Liverpool welcome relegation-bound Burnley to Anfield on Saturday afternoon looking to keep their unbeaten streak alive.
The Reds haven’t tasted defeat since their humiliation ritual in the 4-1 Champions League loss against Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven at Anfield.
They’ve gone 11 games unbeaten across all competitions since then but wins have been hard to come by recently for Arne Slot and his troops.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League outings (W4, D5) but have failed to win each of their most recent three league fixtures.
An entertaining 2-2 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage was sandwiched between goalless stalemates against Leeds United and Arsenal.
Monday’s 4-1 rout in the FA Cup third round against League One relegation battlers Barnsley merely papered over the cracks, although they’d be hoping to build on that success against Burnley.
Despite their mixed form, Liverpool are in a strong position in the top four race. However, only five points separate them from 10th placed Sunderland, highlighting how tight the margins are.
Burnley’s visit gives them a chance to consolidate their spot in the Champions League places, with the Reds winning each of their last six games against the Clarets.
They’ve also won their last two home games against Burnley. But they’d be silly to underestimate Scott Parker’s side considering their most recent defeat against the Clarets also came at Anfield.
Slot could make as many as six changes from the team that thrashed Barnsley 4-1 on Monday.
Alisson should reclaim his place in goal from Giorgi Marmardashvilli while Ibrahima Konate and Milos Kerkez return to the backline to join Virgil van Dijk and Jeremie Frimpong.
Ryan Gravenberch should also return to the XI to partner Alexis Mac Allister in midfield after starting the midweek contest on the bench.
Jones’ impressive 7/10 display in midweek should be enough to restore him to the XI after sitting out the draw against Arsenal, while Hugo Ekitike leads the line.
