Manchester City travel to St. James’ Park to take on Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon, looking to maintain their momentum.

The Cityzens have been on a fantastic run of form since losing 1-0 to Aston Villa late last month.

Man City have won four consecutive games in all competitions since that defeat, with their latest coming in a thumping 3-0 win against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.

That victory helped City close the gap on Arsenal to four points, and Pep Guardiola will hope the two-week hiatus doesn’t affect his side’s momentum.

On paper, the trip to Tyneside should be another routine affair for City, considering their dominant record against Newcastle.

They have lost just one of their last 35 Premier League meetings with the Magpies and are unbeaten in the previous 12 (W9, D3).

How Man City could line up

Man City head to St. James’ Park with just two players out injured, so Guardiola should have a near-fully fit squad to choose from on Saturday.

Despite being renowned for chopping and changing his starting line-up, the Spanish tactician will likely name an unchanged XI from the one that handed Liverpool a beating at the Etihad.

That means Gianluigi Donnarumma will start in goal, with a balanced back four of Nico O’Reilly, Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, and Matheus Nunes ahead of the Italian shot-stopper.

Guardiola confirmed that Rodri and Mateo Kovacic are the only absentees for the trip to Newcastle, although both players are making significant strides in their recovery.

That paves the way for Nico Gonzalez to maintain his place in midfield.

Jeremy Doku has been in fine form for club and country and should keep his place in the attacking line alongside Phil Foden, Rayan Cherki, and Bernardo Silva.

After single-handedly firing Norway to the World Cup, Erling Braut Haaland will look to maintain his phenomenal goalscoring form against Newcastle.

He’s just one goal away from reaching 100 Premier League goals for City and will undoubtedly get the nod ahead of Omar Marmoush, who scored a first-half hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Newcastle in February.
