We have taken a look at those potential possibilities and how teams could qualify…

Five Champions League spots looks highly likely

Despite Premier League sides not faring well in the Champions League knockout stages, with only two of the six sides in Liverpool and Arsenal progressing, England still sits top of the coefficient rankings and look all but certain to have five qualification spots via the Premier League again.

The Europa League qualification spot would then go to the team in sixth, and the FA Cup winners. If the FA Cup winners finish in the top five of the Premier League, their spot will go to the next highest ranked team not qualified for UEFA competitions in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the Conference League spot would ordinarily go to the Carabao Cup winners, but given Manchester City have won that and look certain for a Champions League place, their Conference League playoff place will go to the next-highest ranked team that have not qualified for UEFA competitions in the Premier League.

Should all of this play out, including a team winning the FA Cup that has already qualified for the Champions League through the Premier League, then sixth and seventh would qualify for the Europa League and eighth would make the Conference League.

How seven teams could qualify for the Champions League

There is still a possibility that seven teams could end up qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Should Liverpool win the Champions League and finish in the top five, then the qualification spot would drop to sixth.

But if Aston Villa also win the Europa League and finish in sixth, then seventh spot would qualify for the Champions League too.

How 11 teams could end up in Europe

If things pan out a specific way, England could have a huge 11 teams playing in European competitions next season.

If seven teams qualify for the Champions League, as detailed above, the Europa League and Conference League qualification spots would drop all the way down to tenth, as long as the FA Cup winners have already qualified for Champions League football.

Crystal Palace, who look likely to finish in the bottom half of the league, could then also qualify for the Europa League by winning the Conference League this season.
