Their form since the arrival of interim head coach Igor Tudor - along with the tightening situation at the bottom of the top-flight - means said conversation won't go away any time soon.

Tudor's first league game in charge was, of course, the 4-1 North London derby defeat to Arsenal, which was then followed up by a 2-1 loss to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

After third-bottom West Ham United's win against the Cottagers on Wednesday, there's only one point in it between the Hammers, Spurs, and 17th-place Nottingham Forest.

Yes, it could all change after Tottenham's home clash against Crystal Palace on Thursday night, but sitting 16th with only 29 points on the board is definitely scary stuff.

With this in mind, FLW asked ChatGPT how many points they'd managed to get in the Championship next season if they do indeed go down.

AI predicts how many points Tottenham Hotspur would get in the 26/27 Championship season

It’s worth noting that the current record for the most points in a single Championship season belongs to Reading FC, who managed a whopping 106 in 05/06. This tally was the record across the whole of the EFL until Birmingham City beat it by five last season in League One.

But ChatGPT doesn't reckon Spurs will get close to the Blues' 111 record, either. When asked how many points Tottenham would pick up in the second-tier next season, AI thinks Tottenham would finish on 94.

Yes, it looks a high amount, but that tally wouldn’t have even got them an automatic spot last season, as both Leeds United and Burnley ended up with 100 points apiece.

But why does ChatGPT feel like Spurs won't run away with the title if they're in the Championship next season?

Why AI thinks Tottenham Hotspur wouldn't break the Championship points record in 26/27

When asked for the reasons behind predicting Spurs to get 94 points next season, ChatGPT’s main point was about how demanding the Championship is over 46 games.

Premier League managers of big clubs, like Manchester City's Pep Guardiola, do like to moan about the top-flight's schedule and how it affects them in Europe, but could you imagine how Spurs would feel about the Tuesday/Saturday grind - and sometimes more - in the Championship?

AI also mentioned how plenty of second tier sides play very aggressive and direct football, which would unsettle Spurs if they tried to play a more technical way.

ChatGPT thinks that the North London giants would be able to keep hold of '5-8' players who are 'clearly' above Championship level though, which is why they're still predicted to get 94 points.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen if the Premier League relegation battle will go right down to the wire, but this current situation is probably one of the most worrying times in Tottenham's modern history.
