The Copa Libertadores group stage begins on Tuesday with an increased prize pot. If Corinthians win a second title, they could bank a little over R$ 170 million.

According to Meu Timao, the champions receive 25 million dollars, up 1 million on 2025, while group-stage participation pays 1 million dollars, R$ 5.15 million. Each group win is worth 340,000 dollars, R$ 1.75 million, up from 330,000 last year, with a perfect record bringing 2.04 million dollars, R$ 10.5 million.

The knockouts pay 1.25 million dollars for the last 16, 1.7 million for the quarter-finals, 2.3 million for the semi-finals, and 7 million for runners-up.

Corinthians secured their group place by winning the Copa do Brasil for the fourth time in December. They had not featured at this stage since 2023, after losing in the final qualifying round last year to Barcelona de Guayaquil of Ecuador.

Now coached by Fernando Diniz, they face Argentina’s Platense on Thursday at 21:00 at the Ciudad de Vicente López. Group E also includes Peñarol of Uruguay and Independiente Santa Fe of Colombia.
