Cornick signed a three-and-a-half-year contract when he joined the Robins from Luton Town for an undisclosed fee in January 2023, but he has now been told that he can leave the club, according to journalist Darren Witcoop.

The 29-year-old, who is capable of operating up front as well as on the right wing, could be set for a move to League One in January, with promotion-chasers Charlton and Wrexham both apparently keen on a deal to sign him, as per Witcoop.

Cornick has been surplus to the requirements of Bristol City boss Liam Manning this season, so it should not come as a huge surprise that he is seemingly set to leave for a new challenge during the January transfer window.

He previously worked with Charlton manager Nathan Jones during their time together at Kenilworth Road, although Phil Parkinson's Wrexham currently look more likely to go on and achieve promotion to the Championship during the second half of the campaign, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up this month.

Whether Cornick decides to join the Addicks, the Red Dragons, or any other club that may enter the race for his signature could be based on where he can earn the most money, so let's take a look at what he currently earns at Bristol City.

How much money does Harry Cornick earn at Bristol City?

According to the estimated data available on Capology.com, Cornick is one of the highest earners in the Bristol City squad.

Only Nakhi Wells and Luke McNally are believed to earn more than the 29-year-old, who is estimated to receive a weekly wage of £15,000 at Ashton Gate.

Scott Twine, Cameron Pring, Rob Atkinson, Jason Knight, Joe Williams and Kal Naismith also apparently earn £15,000 per week at Bristol City, which suggests it was hoped that Cornick would be a key player for the Robins when he first signed for the club.

Cornick's current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2026, and with him turning 30 years old in April, it seems unlikely that he would want to have his salary significantly reduced at this stage of his career, which could make Wrexham a more likely destination than Charlton.

Wrexham may be the most likely destination for Harry Cornick in January

If Charlton and Wrexham remain the only clubs in the race for Cornick, and if it boils down to which club can get closer to offering his weekly wage of £15,000 per week, it seems more likely that he will move to Wales in January.

Regardless of whether Cornick leaves Ashton Gate permanently or on a temporary basis, Wrexham's owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney would probably be likelier to agree to cover a larger percentage of his current wages than Charlton's owners.

However, Nathan Jones signed Cornick in 2017, and later stated that there are not many players he would swap the attacker for while he was impressing for Luton in the Championship, so their relationship could be enough to convince the 29-year-old to make a move to SE7.

Cornick may get an opportunity to earn more money at Wrexham, but Jones may be able to get him back to his best at Charlton, so the forward could have a big decision on his hands before the end of the month.
