Steven Gerrard has been linked with taking over at Bristol City
Bristol City made the contentious decision to part ways with Gerhard Struber during the March international break.
The Robins were unable to sustain another push for promotion this year after coming sixth in the table under Liam Manning in 2025, with supporters questioning the level of backing afforded to the Austrian.
Roy Hodgson took charge of the team on an interim basis, overseeing the final weeks of the Championship campaign.
However, the search for a permanent manager is ongoing, as the club look to get back into the promotion mix next season.
While there is still one game left in the campaign, an official appointment could be made soon, as Hodgson steps back into retirement.
The 78-year-old previously managed Bristol City 44 years ago in 1982, and he has overseen two wins, two draws and two defeats in his six games in the dugout so far.

It has been reported by the Independent that Steven Gerrard is open to becoming the next Bristol City manager.
The 45-year-old has also been linked with a potential vacancy opening up at Burnley, with Scott Parker’s future currently in doubt following their relegation to the Championship.
However, it’s believed that he’d be open to replacing his former boss at Liverpool and England at Ashton Gate.
The former Aston Villa boss is understood to be open to a move to the second tier, where he could follow in the footsteps of Frank Lampard to rehabilitate his reputation as a coach.
Lampard took charge of Coventry City in November 2024 after a couple of disastrous stints in the Premier League with Everton and Chelsea.
And he has guided the Sky Blues to promotion to the top flight this year, ending their 25 year wait to compete in the division.
Gerrard oversaw Rangers’ first SPL title win in a decade when he was in charge at Ibrox, but a difficult spell at Villa Park led to his dismissal in October 2022 with the team hovering just above the relegation zone.
The former Liverpool midfielder made the switch to Saudi Arabia for his latest coaching job, taking over at Al-Ettifaq.
Gerrard departed Al-Ettifaq in January of last year, and is now looking for coaching work again.
Bristol City are currently 13th in the Championship table, 11 points adrift of the play-off places going into the final fixture of the season against Stoke City on 2 May.

Bristol City took a step backwards this season, but they are still a club with a lot of potential to compete for promotion.
Gerrard hasn’t worked in English football for nearly four years, and his time at Aston Villa was a massive disappointment.
While he enjoyed a strong spell at Rangers, that title win was now five years ago, and there has been little evidence in that time since that he’s capable of managing at the level Bristol City want to be competing at.
Bringing someone of his stature in will certainly boost the club’s profile, but it would be a very risky appointment on the basis of his limited track record.
