Blues take on Gunners in crunch Carabao Cup clash

Chelsea host Arsenal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge today.

The Blues have embarked on a new era, with Liam Rosenior their latest man in the dugout.

It was a winning start to his Chelsea career for Rosenior, who joined the club from sister club Strasbourg last week, as he oversaw a 5-1 win at Charlton in the FA Cup.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are top of the Premier League by six points and bounced back from their drab 0-0 draw with Liverpool by thrashing Portsmouth 4-1 to themselves reach the FA Cup fourth round.

Mikel Arteta has been dealing with a bit of a defensive injury crisis recently, with Cristhian Mosquera, Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori his latest worries.

Rosenior will be hoping to have three key players back for this London derby after they missed out at The Valley at the weekend.

Cole Palmer, Reece James and Malo Gusto were omitted from the matchday squad against the Championship side as a “precautionary” measure, Rosenior revealed afterwards, with the trio all picking up knocks in the 2-1 defeat against Fulham.
