Under-fire head coach has huge chance to win back some support
Tottenham travel to Frankfurt tonight knowing that a win will secure their place in the Champions League last 16.
Thomas Frank’s side recorded a huge 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund last week to ease the pressure from the under-fire Dane, who looked to be teetering on the brink of the sack after a dreadful run of form that had seen Spurs not register a win since December.
Spurs, however, were back to their usual ways against Burnley at the weekend, needing a late Cristian Romero equaliser to bail them out against the relegation strugglers.
Pressure was piled back on their head coach, who was the subject of chants and abuse from the travelling support, who dissented and displayed their discontentment with the club’s current regime.
Tottenham are fifth in the Champions League table, with 14 points to their name.
It has them just a single point clear of the chasing pack, but the fact that they are in the top eight going into the final matchday is a big positive for Frank.
A win at the Deutsche Bank Park will not come easy, however, with Frankfurt out of contention for a play-off place, but hungry to make an impression after they dismissed their head coach Dino Topmoller.
The Bundesliga outfit are eighth in the German top flight, but they have not won a game since mid-December.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on TNT Sports 5, with coverage starting at 7.30pm GMT.
Live stream: TNT Sports subscribers can also catch the contest live online via the Discovery+ app and website.
