Tottenham can take another step towards the next stage of the Champions League with a win in Monaco tonight.

Victory over Villarreal followed by a scrappy draw at Bodo/Glimt leaves Spurs in a comfortable spot ahead of a tough-looking test at the Stade Louis II stadium.

Spurs’ task is made tougher with the expected absence of captain Cristian Romero and first-choice left-back Destiny Udogie through injury. Kevin Danso will partner Micky van de Ven in centre-back, while England international Djed Spence will remain on the flank.

Tottenham are also without Ben Davies, while Radu Dragusin - not ywt match fit after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January - and summer signing Kota Takai are not eligible for the competition. That means 16-year-old academy player Jun'ai Byfield could be the only centre-back option on the bench for Spurs tonight.

Monaco have won their last two games against Spurs, but 10 years ago it was Spurs who ran out 4-1 winners at home thanks to a first-half Erik Lamela hat-trick as a 16-year-old Kylian Mbappe came off the bench.
