Newcastle and Manchester City face off tonight in a huge FA Cup clash.

The two teams are already very familiar with each other this season, with this cup clash being their fifth meeting across all competitions this season, and fourth in 2026 alone. There is even the possibility of a sixth encounter later in the campaign, as both clubs sit on opposite sides of the Champions League draw and could potentially meet in the latter stages.

Their first clash of the season took place in November, which saw a Harvey Barnes double secure a big win for Newcastle. Since then, however, momentum has swung firmly in City’s favour, with three wins on the spin, including both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final as well as a convincing Premier League win at the Etihad Stadium just a few weeks ago.

Despite those setbacks, Newcastle arrive with renewed confidence after a dramatic midweek victory over Manchester United. The Magpies played much of that match with ten men but still managed to secure an impressive win, a result that will provide a much-needed confidence boost.

City, meanwhile, experienced a significant stumble in their pursuit of the Premier League title after being held to a frustrating home draw by Nottingham Forest. Guardiola’s team remain in contention on multiple fronts, and this FA Cup clash will provide another stern test as they continue their pursuit of what would be an unprecedented quadruple.
