With Maycon and Ángel Romero departing and Fagner’s contract terminated, Yuri Alberto now has the most appearances in the current Corinthians squad. The striker has played 208 times since 2022 and symbolises a new generation at the club.
The number nine is expected to make his first start of the season on Sunday at 16:00 Brasília time against São Paulo at Neo Química Arena, in the third round of the Campeonato Paulista. Hugo Souza said the departing pair are major references who leave a legacy, and he highlighted left-back Matheus Bidu as the next most-used player with 123 appearances.
Alberto holds the Neo Química Arena scoring record with 49 goals, is Corinthians’ top scorer of this century on 76, and has 14 in derbies in the same period. He also lifted the Campeonato Paulista and the Copa do Brasil in 2025.
European clubs make regular enquiries and offers for the 24-year-old, with the latest coming from Lazio. His contract runs until July 2030, the second-longest in the squad behind centre-back João Pedro Tchoca.
He underlined the need for the group to unite and support new arrivals, with long-serving yet young figures such as Alberto and Bidu helping to drive shared objectives.
