HSV name Nicolai Remberg captain as new leadership group set for 2026/27 | OneFootball

Nicolai Remberg has been named HSV captain for 2026/27, with Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nicolas Capaldo appointed as his deputies.

According to BuLi News, head coach Merlin Polzin selected Remberg to take over from Yussuf Poulsen, who hands over the armband but remains an influential presence.

The midfielder becomes the club’s 33rd captain since 1963, and had already led the side in two games last season.

Remberg said the honour is special, noting his career has progressed steadily through hard work. He pledged to set standards on and off the pitch and to offer full backing alongside Lokonga and Capaldo, with Poulsen also supporting the group.

Polzin praised Remberg’s demanding standards and daily drive, saying that mentality should define HSV. He described Lokonga as a strategist and Capaldo as an emotional leader, with Poulsen adding significant international experience.

The leadership group now aim to guide HSV through the new Bundesliga campaign and build on last season’s 13th-place finish.
