Hugo Ekitike forced off early for Liverpool against Brighton after heavy knock | OneFootball

Hugo Ekitike was withdrawn in the eighth minute for Liverpool at Brighton after a heavy dead leg, leaving his France call-up in doubt.

According to L'Équipe, his participation in the upcoming national-team camp is uncertain.

The forward collided with James Milner in the fourth minute, clutched his left thigh and initially left the pitch. He briefly returned, then lay down and asked to be replaced in the eighth minute, in tears.

Ekitike had been named in Didier Deschamps’s squad on Thursday for France’s tour of the United States and was due at Clairefontaine on Monday.

It is also a setback for Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah currently injured. The timing is awkward, with the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against PSG in two and a half weeks.
