It had looked to be a two-horse race for the managerial vacancy at RC Strasbourg Alsace. However, as initially reported by A Bola and now confirmed by L’Équipe, a third name has emerged.
Gary O’Neil’s departure for Ipswich Town has left Le Racing needing to dip into the managerial market for the third time in 2026. Former Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy emerged as an early frontrunner, whilst there were also talks with Kjetil Knutsen of Bodo/Glimt. The latter, L’Équipe understands, may now be out of the running, but the job may not be Nancy’s either.
As per A Bola, it is Hugo Oliveira who is the new frontrunner. The 47-year-old, who previously worked as an assistant to Marco Silva at Fulham, Everton, Watford, and Hull City, is currently in charge of Porutuguese side Famalicao, whom he guided to a fifth-place finish in the league last season. A transfer worth €4m is in the works.
