Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic has signalled Joe Gelhardt is not his leading attacking target this summer, despite saying he would like the Leeds United forward back.

Gelhardt spent 18 months on loan at Hull across two spells, arriving in January 2025 before a season-long return the following summer. He scored 15 goals in 2025/26 as the Tigers won promotion via the play-offs.

“If it’s my decision, he will be here with us,” said Jakirovic. “We are expecting some players in these positions, the No.10 or right-winger, so we have to wait.” “He doesn’t need any adaptation but we will see.
