Mats Hummels is one of a countless number of basketball fans to react to the news of Luka Doncic’s imminent trade from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers, dropping a slight hint about his happiness with his personal situation in the process.

Doncic stole headlines on Sunday with the news that he is set to be traded by the Mavericks and join the Lakers instead.

Hummels responds to Doncic news with Roma hint

“Thank god you can’t get traded like this as a football/soccer player,” wrote Hummels on social media, along with a suggestive emoji in response to Sunday’s news.

The 2014 World Cup winner was released by his beloved Borussia Dortmund over the summer, which meant that he left as a free agent before eventually joining Roma on a free transfer.

His time at the Stadio Olimpico has not exactly been smooth sailing since then, as club legend Daniele De Rossi was sacked four games into the 2024-25 season, before being replaced by Ivan Juric.

Juric opted to play Hummels for just 23 minutes of Serie A action, and made him wait close to two months before his Giallorossi debut, before the coach was given his marching orders in November.

Hummels has not been shy dropping hints about his happiness in Rome previously, as he made a slightly sarcastic comment on social media while waiting for his Roma debut under Juric back in October.
