The Sky Blues boss has reportedly emerged as a managerial target for the Cherries
The coming days have the chance to become some of the most historic from those of a Coventry City perspective, as the club close in on a long-awaited return to the Premier League.
Aside from a minor dip in performance levels and results back in January and February, the Sky Blues have, without question, been the most consistent side in the Championship this term in Frank Lampard's first full season in charge at the CBS Arena.
After replacing modern-day icon, Mark Robins, in the dugout back in November 2024, the former Chelsea and England midfield maestro has generated a mass wave of momentum in this part of the West Midlands, and his squad have since been able to get over last May's play-off semi-final heartache against Sunderland in remarkable fashion.
Despite enduring a frustrating goalless home draw against already-relegated Sheffield Wednesday in their most recent outing, Coventry know that all they need to secure promotion is a minimum of one point when they travel to Ewood Park against Blackburn Rovers on Friday night in front of the television cameras.
Unsurprisingly, the prize which lies in wait has become a prevalent topic of discussion since the weekend, but so has the potential long-term future of Lampard, amid developments that another Premier League side are looking for a new manager/head coach ahead of 2026/27.

Having overseen a fine season with the Sky Blues, it has emerged that AFC Bournemouth chiefs have Lampard's name in their thoughts when it comes to a replacement for Andoni Iraola.
Such developments were reported by the I Paper on Tuesday afternoon, after it was confirmed that the current Cherries boss would be departing the Vitality Stadium when his contract expires at the end of the season, having failed to reach an agreement over fresh terms.
There is still a chance that Iraola's successor in Dorset could lead Bournemouth into a first-ever campaign in Europe, such is the congested nature in the fight for UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League spots with just six games to go.
Although other outlets have since claimed that links between Lampard and the South Coast side are false, former Sky Sports presenter and lifelong Coventry supporter, Richard Keys, has weighed in on the news.
Taking to his X account on the morning of April 15th, the 68-year-old admitted that he was left somewhat hysterical after learning of the speculation.
"I’ve just read Frank Lampard is on a 3-man short-list for the Bournemouth job," Keys said. "I’ve checked the date & it’s not April 1. So what could it be then? Seriously?
"I can’t stop laughing," he added, followed by three laughing emojis.
Other names linked with the upcoming vacancy at Bournemouth are Iraola's former Rayo Vallecano assistant, Inigo Perez and Ipswich Town boss, Kieran McKenna, albeit the latter had nothing to say on such links following the Tractor Boys' shock midweek loss at Portsmouth.

Whilst links to McKenna have failed to dissipate - developments which will only add to the nerves felt by Ipswich fans - Coventry supporters may be feeling slightly more at ease following a fresh round of developments which emerged on Bournemouth's managerial search on Tuesday.
According to Sky Sports, the leading contender is now Marco Rose, with the German currently out of work having been sacked by Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig, 12 months ago.
As such, those in the Midlands will hope that Lampard stays committed to the project set out by Doug King with promotion on the horizon, having already seen his name linked with other top-flight roles throughout the season with nothing materialising.
