Bernardo Silva has been linked with Barcelona for a long time, but with the player officially leaving Manchester City and looking for a club this summer, the rumours are back in the media.
Word has it that the Portuguese star dreams of playing for the Catalans at least once in his career and that he is pushing for the move personally. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has been on the task for weeks now.
For Barcelona, however, Silva’s name does not strike as a priority.
In a recent interview, the Manchester City star was asked about his future and which club he hoped to sign for in June.
“I am looking for a team where I can continue competing, where I can play at the highest level, which is what I still want to do, and where my family is happy,” he said.

He then hinted that he has a clear preference in mind, although he refused to take any names to stir up rumours.
“I want my family to be happy. That is very important in my life. My daughter is three years old and my wife is pregnant again, so in October we will have our second child. I have an idea and a preference [for my next club], but we’ll see what happens.”
Finally, he was directly asked about Barcelona and if the Catalonia-based club was the team he hoped to represent.
“Barça? I don’t want to talk about names. Honestly, I don’t know where I’m going to be. I just want to enjoy and focus on my last games here.”
“I told my agent that I will talk to him on the 25th, the day after the game against Aston Villa,” he added.

While Barcelona do not consider Silva to be a priority signing, they are said to have begun exploring financial possibilities to make a bid.
As a free agent, he is the perfect target for the club should he arrive on the right wages, for his quality and experience can add a special detail to Barcelona’s dressing room.
Juventus, however, are also in the race and in a more aggressive position. Silva’s preference is to join Barcelona, and it remains to be seen if he is willing to possibly accept a lower wage to play for the club.
