Rangers midfielder Tochi Chukwuani has revealed that he knows a potential title win would ‘mean the world to people’ and vowed to ‘give everything in his power’ to repay the Gers fans for their passion.

Chukwuani was brought in from Sturm Graz for a fee in the region of €5m, with add-ons and a sell-on clause included, as boss Danny Rohl took advantage of the first transfer window under his helm to address shortcomings in the squad.

The Danish midfielder has quickly established himself as a starting figure since his move, with Chukwuani celebrating his first goal for the Gers against Aberdeen before the international break.

Chukwuani ingratiated himself by remarking upon the ‘passion’ of the Rangers faithful, claiming that it drives him to wanting to repay them on the pitch.

Saying ‘I know it would mean the world to people’, Chukwuani admitted that he now understands fully how important the Scottish Premiership title is to Rangers’ ethos as a club.

Chukwuani, when asked if he has a sense of what a league title would mean to the supporters, told a press conference (3:50): “I know it would mean the world to people.

“And especially when you walk around the city and everyone is talking about the 56 and you can just hear people screaming at you walking down the road.

“You can feel the passion and this is something, when you step on the pitch, you just want to give everything in your power back to the fans, with great displays and a lot of games won.”

Mikey Moore expressed his wish to see his Rangers team-mates return from the international break uninjured, and his wish seems to have been largely fulfilled, with no injuries reported on international duty.

With Rangers seeking to overturn Hearts’ three-point lead, the defensive duo of Emmanuel Fernandez and Nasser Djiga have been backed to be vital to the Gers title chances, while the forward pair of Ryan Naderi and Youssef Chermiti have been chastised for their lack of goals.

Rangers are set to take on Dundee United on Saturday, with two games left to play before the split.

The fixture represents a potential banana skin, as not only did Dundee United beat Celtic in their previous fixture, they have also held the Gers to a pair of 2-2 draws earlier this season.

A win will take Rangers to the top of the pile at least overnight, leapfrogging the Jambos on goal difference, and possibly provide an opportunity for Chukwuani and the other new signings to witness the full extent of the fans’ passion.
