Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has aimed a sly dig at his parent club by declaring that he has rediscovered his love for football whilst on loan at Napoli.

The Denmark international has been back in Serie A this season in what started out as a temporary move but which now looks almost certain to be made permanent.

Hojlund struggled to impress at Man Utd, but previously looked an exciting young talent at former club Atalanta.

It seems returning to Italy has done Hojlund good, and it’s not too surprising that this deal is set to become permanent, as previously reported by Fabrizio Romano in the X post below…

Speaking about his struggles at United, Hojlund has now said it felt like things were over for him at one point while he was there, though ne “never” stopped believing he could get back to his best.

See below as he’s been quoted by Romano as saying he feels he’s rediscovered his love for the game since leaving MUFC for Napoli…

“It felt like it was over for me at one point,” Hojlund said.

“Here at Napoli, I’ve rediscovered my love for football. People even back in Denmark were writing me off, but I never stopped believing.”

Players loving life after Manchester United

This sounds pretty damning for United, with a talented young player clearly very happy to have put his time with the club behind him.

It will be interesting to see if the 23-year-old can continue to shine now that he’s back in Italian football, but he’s certainly not the only player in recent years to leave United and improve.

His Napoli teammate Scott McTominay is just one other example of those, along with Marcus Rashford, now on loan at Barcelona, and Antony, now at Real Betis.
