FC Barcelona came close to winning it all last season, lifting the domestic treble and finishing as semi-finalists in the Champions League. They were minutes away from reaching the final but eventually lost to Inter Milan.
One of the biggest success stories was Barcelona’s flourishing attack. Both Raphinha and Lamine Yamal had frankly outrageous seasons, reflected in the success Hansi Flick’s team enjoyed across all fronts.
Injuries have prevented the club from making a similar start this campaign. Among the many players dealing with physical issues is Lamine Yamal, who has been experiencing discomfort due to pubalgia.
Lamine received the prestigious Di Stefano Award for best player of the season from the newspaper Marca. At the event, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo, the teenager made it clear that his ambitions for the season had no limits. He said:
“No doubt about it: I want it all. I hope I achieve it all, and as long as we can play, it’s possible.”
Lamine has a number of competitions to contest this season. With Barcelona, he has the opportunity to repeat last season’s treble and add the Champions League to it. He will also travel across the Atlantic to play for Spain in the 2026 World Cup.
At 18, the right winger already shoulders responsibility for club and country. He is surrounded by talented players in both teams, but the limelight more often than not falls on Barcelona’s No. 10.
If Lamine can have a good season, he increases the chances of Barcelona and Spain winning trophies. Let us hope he can put his physical issues behind him and contribute on the pitch. Only time will tell how things play out.
