Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.
The Portuguese international was a target for multiple Saudi Arabian clubs during the summer, and there were rumours that they could offer £100 million to sign him. However, the Manchester United midfielder turned down the move.
There were rumours that he opted against moving to Saudi Arabia because of the upcoming World Cup. The player has now opened up on the situation and clarified that he did not turn down the move to Saudi Arabia because of the World Cup. He wanted to stay at Manchester United, and the Premier League club were intent on keeping him at the club.
“I didn’t close the door on moving to Saudi Arabia because of the World Cup,” Fernandes said ahead of Saturday’s Group F qualifier against the Republic of Ireland via Sky Sports. “That was never in my mind. I wanted to stay at Manchester United, and the club wanted me to stay. That’s all there is to it.”

It is clear that the Portuguese international is committed to the project at Manchester United. His comments will come as a huge boost for the club and the fans. They need to hold onto their best players if they want to bounce back strongly. They have been quite mediocre in recent seasons, and they finished in the bottom half of the league table last season. They have started the current campaign in poor form as well.
Fernandes has been carrying their creative and goalscoring burden, and Manchester United simply cannot afford to lose him. It remains to be seen whether he can help Manchester United bounce back strongly in the coming months.
