Kylian Mbappé’s (25) seven-year chapter at Paris Saint-Germain came to an end in the summer. However, had it not been for Real Madrid’s interest, he may have spent his entire career there, as he told beIN Sports.
His split from the French club was acrimonious. Having announced his departure to leave on a free transfer in February, Mbappé saw his game time decrease towards the end of last season as Les Parisiens prepared for life without him. Before that, during the summer of 2023, he was even ostracised from the sqaud, omitted from the pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea as PSG desperately tried to sell the forwar in order to garner a fee.
Since departing PSG, he has been engaged in a wage dispute with his former club. Mbappé is claiming three months’ worth of unpaid wages, as well as bonuses. However, as he has revealed, he could have spent his whole career at PSG, had it not been for Real Madrid’s interest.
“I have always said that [PSG] was the biggest club in France and one of the best in the world. I only left to go to the biggest club in the world,” he began in an interview with beIN Sports.
“I have always said that it was the only club that I would have left PSG for. If I couldn’t have gone to Real Madrid, I would have stayed at PSG my whole life. I spent seven years at PSG. It was an honour. I was always aware of where I was and of how big a club PSG was,” Mbappé added.
