FC Barcelona displayed their top form when they took on Villarreal in their last league match on Saturday, and emerged victorious with a 4-1 scoreline. Lamine Yamal was particularly excellent in this game, as he scored a hat-trick.
In fact, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the coach of the Yellow Submarine team, Marcelino, praised the young forward as he talked to the press after the game, and also rued his team’s inability to contain him. In this regard, the Spanish coach said:
“We came up against an exceptional Lamine and a clinical Barça… If we give Lamine a highway, the normal thing is that he’ll score against us.”
Marcelino particularly rued the third goal conceded by his team:
“It’s a goal we cannot concede. From an opponent’s move executed with precision and very simple for us to deal with.”
The Villarreal coach put most of the blame for this defeat on his team:
“I think Barça had doubts and we opened the door so they wouldn’t have them.”
The Spanish coach also opened up on his sidelines ruffle with Hansi Flick:
“He told me off for no reason… It annoyed me a bit because I’m not the one who decides what gets called or not.”
It is natural to see an opposition coach opting for self-criticism after such a defeat, but Barcelona deserve full credit for their win, and hopefully, this will boost the team’s morale going forward.
