Enzo Maresca has refused to rule out the possibility of playing two left footed centre backs in Saturday’s game against Liverpool.
Chelsea welcome Liverpool to Stamford Bridge in a huge game, with both sides looking to return to winning ways in the league.
The Blues have lost their last two league games, whilst Liverpool have lost their last two games in all competitions.
Defeat would leave Chelsea with just eight points from a possible 21, and Maresca facing mounting pressure, but a win would provide a huge boost heading into the international break.
Maresca faces a lengthening injury list, with Chelsea set to be without eight players for the visit of the champions.
However, Maresca has been boosted by the return of Romeo Lavia, whilst Benoit Badiashile is also fit and playing again.

A lot has been made of Chelsea’s defensive issues, and the Blues are without Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah who’s suspended.
Badiashile has been praised by Maresca in the build-up to the game, whilst it’s likely between youngsters Josh Acheampong and Jorrel Hato to partner him.
It’s fair to assume it would be Acheampong given he’s right footed, but Maresca hasn’t ruled out the possibility of playing two left footed centre backs.
“If you remember last year, when Wes was injured, we played a few games with Benoit and Levi – Tottenham away and some more games,” he said as quoted on X.com.
“So, it’s not just about right and left [footers].
“For sure, if you can have right and left-footed defenders, it’s much better. But we have shown we can also play with two left.”
With Chelsea’s current injury problems at the back, Badiashile has a big opportunity to stake a claim for a regular starting spot.

The Frenchman started his first game of the season against Benfica on Tuesday and gave a good account of himself as Chelsea kept a much needed clean sheet.
Badiashile has struggled since his first six months at the club, but this could be the opportunity he’s been waiting for, and it’s up to him to take it.
