Despite the fact that Napoli are currently in a Scudetto battle, there has been talk that Antonio Conte’s future beyond the end of the season is not certain.
Today’s edition of Il Mattino (via MilanNews) dedicates an in-depth analysis to Conte’s Napoli and his excellent season so far. There was only one coach in the plans of the owner Aurelio De Laurentiis to erase the post-Scudetto disaster: Conte.
He convinced him with a rich contract worth €6m net per season, but also with an ambitious project. And, above all, by attributing full powers to the coach, which he himself intends to extend to matters not strictly on the pitch in the coming months.
For this reason, the former Inter and Juventus coach has shared with Mayor Manfredi the idea of giving Naples a more modern stadium, as well as a state of the art training centre. His focus is on Napoli, therefore, but there may be options on the table.
Juventus, Milan and Arsenal are mentioned as being keen on hiring Conte, who in turn remains convinced that a strong football hub can be created at Napoli. He enjoys full trust from De Laurentiis, the team and the fans, striking a great feeling with everyone.
In other words: regardless of how the Scudetto race ends this season, Conte feels like he is only at the beginning of a larger project. A plan shared with the president, to go even further than what Luciano Spalletti did.
