Leeds United signed off at Elland Road with a 1-0 win over Brighton, true to a campaign built on resilience and fight.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has four goals in five and 15 for the season. According to Leeds Live, Leeds could reach 50 points at West Ham. A Tottenham point at Chelsea could effectively relegate the Hammers given a 13-goal deficit and a three-point gap.
Calvert-Lewin and James Justin walked out with their children before the handshakes, a warm scene later repeated on the lap of honour. The South Stand cheered when a youngster kicked a ball into the goal after the match.
Another child, possibly Dan James’ given the number seven shirt, copied Daniel Farke’s three cheers to the crowd. The head coach addressed supporters on the microphone, then stepped back to let his players take the acclaim.
Ilia Gruev circled the pitch on crutches as Sam Byram pushed close friend Alex Cairns forward for three cheers, the pair out of contract this summer. Ao Tanaka was urged on but kept his distance, while Paraag Marathe greeted players and club figures.
Once the stands emptied, Illan Meslier sat on a ball in the box, taking in a last look before his deal expires this summer. Early expansion is visible, the West Stand car park cleared, cranes and scaffolding in place for summer and international breaks, with staff moving kit to a van as workers in hard hats waited.
